Welcome to Tom Pockley's Homepage
I have been working as a woodturner since 1993, having taken early retirement from Chemistry teaching. I was accepted onto the register of Professional Turners in 1997.
I have recently moved to a different workshop in an attractive organic farm in the nearby village of Iden where I can enjoy making production pieces, gallery pieces and teaching courses to individuals or couples. I can provide vouchers for woodturning courses for that unusual present and also my gallery work provides a possible gift from very affordable to unusual and special. I usually favour English hardwoods to work with, so Oak, Ash, Elm, Walnut, Sycamore and Fieldmaple are often used.
I am proud to be a member of the Sussex Guild (Sussex is only a few miles away) which is a lively group of talented craft makers. Most of the shows I do are with the Sussex Guild and I have work in the Guild Shop in Southover Road, Lewes. I remain a member of the Essex Craft Society, which is a slightly smaller but also talented group, and I usually exhibit once a year with them.
